A Cheapskate’s Book Finds

I had to deliver (again) some cupcakes last night for my sister. I met up with my friend at Robinson’s Pioneer, and our usual spot for meetups is in front of the National Book Store. This is one of my favorite branches because they always put some books on sale. So, after I completed my errand, I joined the book hoarding crowd surrounding the table piled up with all sorts of books: from kid’s board books and activity books to coffee table books and paperback novels. I only managed to buy 5 items for the staff’s already packing up the books since it’s almost closing time. I bought them for only Php30 each (less than a dollar each, around US$0.67). Nice finds, aren’t they?

  • Stencils and Prints

An activity booklet filled with fantastic ideas for models, cards, pictures and decorations, it teaches basic skills and techniques in printing and stenciling. It’s packed with fun projects and imaginative ideas with easy-to-follow instructions. I am interested in arts and crafts, so I bought this one.

  • Sudoku Pocket Puzzles

Included in my 101 in 1001 list is to answer 101 Sudoku puzzles. I’ve been playing this game in my mobile phone, but my progress in completing this task would be properly documented if it’s in print.

I love Jeffery Deaver’s The Bone Collector. I read the book after watching the movie. It’s about time I read another novel of him. Goodreads has a total rating of 3.7 stars (2488 ratings and 100 reviews). Not bad.

I’m not familiar with this novel and author but I find the title intriguing and the book cover interesting.  Goodreads gave a rating of 3.3 stars (1431 ratings and 383 reviews).

Lois Lowry has won two John Newbery Medals, for Number the Stars in 1989 and The Giver  in 1993. Gathering Blue was published on 2000. It has a rating of 3.8 stars (54807 ratings and 4487 reviews) in Goodreads and 4.5 stars in Barnes and Nobles.
